Default Does "Bluetooth On" increase battery drain?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a new 8700c and a Plantronics 640 for occasional car use.
I leave the "Bluetooth On" at all times.
Does leaving that on cause the battery to drain faster?
Should I turn "Bluetooth off" when not in the case?

In my 7250 I never turn the bluetooth radio off, I have an extended battery and I get about 4 days out of it, I imagine if i went through the bother of switching it off and on I might get additional time out of it but for me 4 days on one charge is good enough.

Yes, bluetooth does drain the battery faster. I have programmed the front convenience button to turn the bluetooth on/off and usually turn it off when not in the car.

That is correct. Another thing that drains battery fast is the number of messages on you BB and also how many of them are unRead.. I have seen this..

is there any chance you can provide a link so I verify such a statement? Simply beacuse I receive tons of emails and texts and mms messages daily, and most of them I don't read until I am settled down from moving around so much.

Thank you.

On my 8700c (upgraded to Bharti) I only get an option called "Bluetooth" that takes me to the same screen as Settings->Bluetooth, which means that I then have to use the scroll wheel to get to the menu to turn BT on. I would love a straight toggle from the front conv. button.

On a side note, I also would like to be able to get to the Address book from one of the conv. buttons, but it's not listed. I thought it was before the upgrade, but it seems to have disappeared. Anyone know if I screwed up or if it's really gone?

Darn. The ringer volume tied to the speaker volume bug is more important than having the address book as a conv. key so I guess I'll live with it. Thanks.

For address shortcut after a Bharti upgrade try hitting the "num" key then the "A" key.
To program the convenience keys Options/ScreenKeyboard then scroll to bottom to see the two convenience key options to program
