Default Update Blackberry OS through BES?

Please Login to Remove!

I am new to blackberry enterprise server, and one of my first tasks would be to update all our blackberrys to the latest version. Is there a way to push out an OS update through BES Version: 5.0.1.58?

I did a search and everything came up with BES 4 not being able to, but that 5 would support it.

You really need to familiarize yourself with BES before getting to OTASL.
This should NOT be your first task.

Handheld software updates via BES are somewhat involved. It's not like you can tell BES "go put version X on all handhelds" and expect it to work. It simply doesn't work that way.
The carrier needs to approve the version you're requesting for the handhed.
The correct source version must be on the handheld.
The device must be branded with the same carrier as the OS package.

BES doesn't push the OS update. The carrier does, with BES controlling the request.

From what your saying then I should be in great shape. We have 50 users, that all have indentical devices that we bought in one bulk order. They are all on the same carrier also.

So I will contact my account rep through verizon. Do you know of any documentation to get me moving in the right direction?

You don't need to contact Verizon.

The Administrators guide for BES explains how to set up software configuration and OTASL for wireless software updates.
