Default Just got my Torch! T-Mobile question

Please Login to Remove!

Just got my Torch and sold off my trusty T-Mo 9700 (I'm sure we'll meet again someday, lol)...

Love it so far, can't wait to put a full body Invisible Shield on it tomorrow!

There has to be something in the embedded systems to allow 3G for us T-Mobile users. I know its hardware based, but just wanted to see if anyone has or knows any tweaks or software (or FW even) settings to get better than EDGE.

Its nice to have a huge screen finally on a BB! I have tried all the fancy Android phones and iPhone models, but they all seem to just be lusty flings that die down after a while. I ALWAYS end back up to Blackberry.

If it is an AT&T 9800, there is no TMO 3G capability - EDGE only. TMO uses different 3G frequencies than AT&T (and other GSM carriers for that matter).

No tweaks, hacks, fixes, etc. You need the TMO branded version.

What do you mean the end? Can't I get the 3G chips from a tmo 9700 and place them into the 9800? There has got to be a way!

What the FRAK are you smok'in!? The 9800 is ATT 3G ONLY! NO 1700Mhz 3G on this phone!(for the time being....okay?). Not to mention T-Mo's UMA offering's that won't work on a 9800 either. 3G chips...jeeze!
Check the specifications! Yes, I want a 9800 as well, but my T-Mo 9700 will do the job in the meantime. And, UMA can't be beat.Free tethering, either!
