Default Cursor placement and selecting is awful

Please Login to Remove!

While I'm new to the Storm 2 after 2 years with a Pearl 8130, I think its a great smartphone and I am not envious of the iPhone in the least. However, there is one damning "feature", and that is ease of placing the cursor and/or selecting text.

I wish I was smart enough to offer a suggestion on how to improve it so that BB could do the deed, but I'm not. I just take my time and carefully type and avoid errors.

Where I run into issues is if I email myself a large note or list (several pages) that I want to cut and paste into a memo for instance. A "select all" would be a nice menu choice, but ultimately, easier more accurate cursor control would be best.

Any suggestions for me. Maybe I'm just missing something, because everything else is dandy on the Storm 2. I love it!

I just found that it gets better the more you use it. It was difficult for me at first, but now I can get pretty much what I want the first time.

Default True

As with many things , this is true.

I actually discovered that the "way" to do a selection is to press and click with two fingers to place two cursors on the screen, and then move them around with very light "selection" pressure. Now my fingers can be positioned over either end of the cursor as opposed to it being in the middle where the actual cursor is.

This has made all the difference in the world and made selection very manageable(but not ideal).

Again, I have answered my own question... imagine that!

this phone has sort of a multitouch, so it should be easy to copy and paste

This is one of those things that, even though the Storm had way before iPhone/iPod Touch did, I wish RIM would copy now that Apple does have it. Now that I've switched from a Storm 1 to a Storm 2, it's even tougher, because the Storm 2 feels 'faster' and more sensitive, and is therefore jumpier when using the selection mode. I also wish RIM would copy Apple's way of expanding the key you've pressed when typing, rather than the 'aura' indicator.

In newer OS the option to show the key while you type is present. Under options, screen/keyboard its called key indicator.

I have it with .451

At first I did not use it but im giving it a try

Good to know. I'm using .320 on a new Storm 2 right now, but an upgrade is something to think about for sure now.
How does the key 'indicate' anyways? Is it similar to the iPhone stuff?
