I apologize if this has been answered but I have to leave my office and wanted to throw this out there to see some feed back so I can fix my BB when I get back.

So, has DM 5.00 installed on a Macbook Pro (XP pro side) and backed up my bold as had not done in a while - tried upgrading OS and got stuck on connecting to boot rom. Uninstalled DM and reinstalled DM 5.0.1 and same exact thing happened. Pulled battery and restarted BB and all is fine but I don't know why this is happening!

Backberry 9000
V4.6.0.266 (platform 4.0.0.223)

Not sure if you need to know anything else.

What os are updating to? Did you delete the vendor.xml file?

I am not sure to tell you the truth it was all thru DM it just said there are updates for this. I think it was 4.6 something.

Sorry if that does not help. I was told the new DM does all for you and you do not need to DL and install the update as before. Am I wrong.

Uninstall DM and any other blackberry related things you have installed. Then go to the thread with os you would like to update, the latest is stickied at the top of the forum. Then follow the directions in that thread.
