Default Read E-Mail's on Computer/Gmail Sync with BB?

Please Login to Remove!

I know that when I read an e-mail on my BB from an IMAP account (i.e. Gmail) it will sync and mark the item read in the account/Gmail.

This isn't the case the other way around though. If I read an e-mail on my computer (again, IMAP, like Gmail) it doesn't mark it read on my BB. Is this normal or is there a setting?

I could understand if it was POP, but I'm using IMAP, isn't their two-way snyc?

Thanks in advance!

While it may connect as IMAP it isn't fully featured. Read/unread syncing doesn't happen for me either.

I heard that the only email provider that has full 2-way reconcile with BIS is yahoo. But I hate them too much to try it out.

Maybe one day RIM will update BIS to support full syncing for gmail too.

Well that sucks. :/

So I guess this goes for any other IMAP account. For some reason I thought there was two-way sync.

It's interesting that it works when you read on the BB it shows up as read on your desktop but not the other way around -- seems it'd be the same thing.

Any other input?

bad news with Gmail and BB is that it only offers one way syncing with imap. If you are using yahoo, then you get full 2 way syncing. you can find this information on BB's knowledge base section of their website. I use gmail and find this very saddening too! Gmail is great but without 2way syncing, yahoo is better.

what If I forwarded all my gmail accounts to a yahoo account?
Then it would work, right? I don't think i'd lose the push.
But then I wonder if I can reply from the original account...

I'll have to try this.

actually, now I am noticing the messages are getting deleted on the bold when I read them on the desktop and delete them there.
It takes a few hours to do, which isn't instant, but it's better than nothing.

Default Bold with gmail

I just got the bold and my gmail is not doing any sync with imap. Is it possible that BIS set up my gmail account using POP? It does not ever sync read/unread in either direction.

How can I set up my account with advanced settings in BIS? Whenever I enter the gmail domain name it does it automatically. Thanks!

I've found that Gmail will sync....sometimes and when it does it's really really delayed.
