They can simulate the network internally to see if a workaround would work. they don't need to "down" the entire BIS market-wide network for that. besides...if they have scheduled maintenance such as that, they need to NOTIFY CUSTOMERS. they can't just do whatever they want whenever they want. they should show some respect and say that there could be outages so please be patient...or something like that.
atleast it gives us peace of mind and allows us to prepare...instead of sending people running around as if they were chickens and their heads were cut off. honestly, i am not that tied to my device, but some people are my work are, who are working pretty much 24/7 and who are working with suppliers from china, australia, and finland...they are under multiple time zones and some of my co-workers need that constant access to email.
I just think it's time RIM have a network status page, or an "expected routine maintenance schedule"...do something. if they need to fix something, plan for it and allow us, the customers to plan for it as well.
other than that, RIM and Blackberry are amazing. with that said, i am passing out and i have to get up at 5:30am for another day at work at the office. yippee!
