Well, you're going to get the lecture anyway. What you are trying to do can get you fired. It's that simple. Policies are in place for a reason. Be an adult, an abide by your company's policies on your company's device. You want more flexibility? get your own device.

There is NO way around it. As soon as your device is connected to the BES, whatever restrictions they have in place will be enforced.

If they allow you to play the solitaire game you downloaded - great! If the IT Policy blocks the camera there isn't anything you can do.

Get another device and do not connect it to the BES, if it's that important to you.

Thanks CanuckBB. Your POV is 100% understood. Thanks for repeating. Noted.

Now does anyone else have any advice on the actual technical question at hand?

Kai

Kai, I'm not sure what 'technical question' you are trying to ask here.

You cannot somehow turn on the camera if the IT Policy disables it. There is no 3rd party application or hack or anything that will get around the IT Policy.

Was there some other question you had that we missed?

There is no way around it. If there were, it would have been discovered by now and you would have 5-10 users here telling your how you can subvert your companies security policies.

You can't, end of discussion.

Repeat after me:

This is not possible.
This is not possible.
This is not possible.

THIS IS THE MAIN REASON I FEEL BES IS FAR SUPERIOR TO ANY OTHER MOBILE MESSAGING SOLUTION.

IT Policy has been in since day one, and it has worked as every administrator concerned with security and integrity.

To other solutions, this level of device management / security has been implemented AFTER THE FACT.

Kai, if you want your camera to work, and it is disabled via IT Policy, then you need to accept the fact that you can't be on the BES ... or you convince whoever manages the BES to put you on a different IT Policy.

I can't think of any way to make this any clearer to Kai. Please search the message archives and check with any BB forum site. It all boils down to you cannot bypass IT policy. You can keep your BB off the BES and that is it. Period.

If you have a problem with that you need to take it up with your employer and/or BES admin.

A good comparison would be like Active Directory for your Windows PC at work but far more secure.

And Yes, I know it has been said before but there is no way you can enable the camera.
