4.5 is required, and you must use RIM Browser, not Opera.

Mine only works with my wi-fi. Otherwise it doesn't do anything. It could be just EDGE is too slow for us over here.

Several folks have said that 4.5 is required to watch YouTube videos on the Curve. I have a Verizon Curve. I DO NOT have 4.5 installed. I have 4.3.0.127. I can watch any YouTube video I want. If I have not upgraded to 4.5 then how do you explain that I can watch the videos? In fact, YouTube was already preprogrammed as a bookmark into my browser when I first turned it on brand new from Verizon. At first I couldn't see the videos, until I changed my emulation mode to "Blackberry".

Please keep in mind that 4.3 was renamed 4.5 prior to it being released to/by carriers. So 4.3 is an early version of 4.5.

When people are advised to upgrade to 4.5, this is directed at devices with 4.2, since there isn't a readily available method to upgrade to 4.3.

Hmm, this i very odd. I am running OS 4.5 and when I try and access the video in the BB browser (emulation set to blackberry), it fires up the media player, I see a flurry of activity with the little arrows, then it pauses for about 10 seconds and I get:-
"An error has occurred attempting to play the media"

If I try and connect via GPRS by turning off the wi-fi then it does attempt to play and you can see the video start but it is very very jerky, due to the lack of bandwidth for the stream.

So it seems the device I have is capable but something odd is happening via wi-fi. I am using a BES connection, so not sure if that has anything to do with it?
Mike

For the short time I had 4.5 on my T-Mobile 8320 it worked over UMA. However, the first time I tried the device did crash and reboot itself.
