This looks interesting... a good replacement to Berry-a-Code, more options, too.

Anyone figure out if you need to download the database files to get this to function? There are two options at OTA download one for OTA and one for download which says "installation files + Areacode database"

Yea, you do, or you can download it after the installation.

Looks interesting. What is the memory footprint of this application when installed?

Answer: 4.04MB if you install all databases.

OTA
Application size = 32.9KB ( required )
NAPNXX size = 2.44KB ( required )

Zippped
NorthAmericaCountryName1 - 9 = 862 KB ( required )
Nap2xx = 348KB ( optional )
Nap3xx = 397KB ( optional )
Nap4xx = 345KB ( optional )
Nap5xx = 406KB ( optional )
Nap6xx = 408KB ( optional )
Nap7xx = 473KB ( optional )
Nap8xx = 419KB ( optional )
Nap9xx = 452KB ( optional )

Answer: Its compatible with OS 4.2.1 - OS 4.5.x
(It compatible with OS 4.0.1 - 4.2.0 if I remove Maps feature)

I optimized memory usage by use dynamic class loading and fragmenting code to small .cod files.
I not strong in English so not good to give you an explanation about trick I has been used.
But a result is it use around 400 - 600 KB memory space when it operate.
Not depend on number of database installed.

1 example of optimized trick that I used in this application:
Look at manual lookup result.( type phone number in a search field then hit Lookup button)
You'll see time in milliseconds which used to load database and search. If you press lookpup again with the same phone number. Time which use to search will decrease around 2 - 10 times compare to the first hit.

Answer:Its doesn't have other country exchanges code. I'll create Canada edition later and no plan for other countries.

Answer:A zipped database files is use to install by Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Nice app. I was wondering what benefits come with the optional files?

I recommend you install all optional files if you want it to recognizing most exchanges/phone numbers in US.

File name Nap2xx is database of exchanges +1-201-xxx-xxxx to +1-283-xxx-xxxx
File name Nap3xx is database of exchanges +1-301-xxx-xxxx to +1-386-xxx-xxxx
.
.
.

For example, if you didn't install Nap8xx then it can't recognize a call from +1-801-yyy-yyyy

The application will not load all databases into memory at once. It'll load only a matched exchange data when call comes in (or do manual search)

OTA download

Thx for all the great detail in your reply. For me, the Canada answer is the most critical so I'll watch for a Canada related thread from you. Take care!

This seems like a great app but it's not working like I expected. I doesn't seem to provide a city name for contacts that are not in my phone book. It also does provide a city name for contact in my phone book even if I do not have that feature selected in the options. Any suggestions? Am I understanding the "Lookup Address Book" and "Lookup Non Address Book" correctly?

I have a BB8820 on T-Mobile running 4.2.2.193.

Thanks,
SMF
