Default Battery Dying Quickly With New Update?

Please Login to Remove!

Any one else having this issue? I update my phone a few days ago and since yesterday, my phone dies very quickly. For example, last night I went to bed at 4h in the morning and today, at 9h00 am I woke up to a dead phone. (battery was at 40% when I went to sleep).

Anyone else is having this issue?

First of all, you should never let it get that low. Draining the battery can damage it. If that has been an ongoing thing, then that could be the answer. You should always keep a Lithium battery topped up and never let it get below about 20% if possible.

What apps are running in the background?

When I went to bed at 4h in the morning, it was at 40% and usually, if I woke up 5h later, it would still be at 40%... I was not expecting it to drain in 5h.

Not sure what you are talking about apps running in the background, I did not change/add and new apps since the new update.

If you have apps (applications or programs) running in the background it can drain your battery even if you are not using them.

To see all apps running press and hold the Menu key (the key next to the green phone button) - you will see a list of icons - this is similar to a Task Manager on the PC. You should only have 5 apps running (Home, Browser, Messenger, Phone, Messages) - if you have others you can select them then use the Close or Exit option.

It's a good idea/habit to press and hold down the menu key to see which are running every now and then. For example, if you have Google Maps running (or any other app using GPS) it will drain your battery.

Another tip is to turn off bluetooth if you are not using this - you can do this by going to the home screen and tapping the top right corner to go into Manage Connections. If you leave it on and you are not using it, it keeps checking for a device to connect to and can drain your battery.

One last tip - plug your blackberry into the charger whenever you go to bed - Lithium Ion batteries run best this way.

Good luck.

Access Google Maps, click the menu key, then select Exit - this is the only way it will actually shut down and not use your GPS.

Instead of just exiting out, make sure that you go to the menu button and hit "Close".

All of this is in the link I posted. Please read it.

Read posts 6, 7, 9, & 11. Should fix your issue. Also, do a battery pull after.
