Default Running youtube

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, I'm new guy to the forums. I have a Torch and have had it for about 3 months. I remember when I first got the phone I believe I could run youtube videos. I have not done any upgrades to the phone except for facebook. Now it tells me on all videos I try to run that I need flash player. A co-worker just downloaded Version 6.0 on his new curve, came with 5.0 and he's able to run yourtube videos. Any ideas why I can't??

Thanks

Unfortunately aiharkness' idea will not correct the issue. If you are being asked to update Flash on you BB device, the server is not recognizing that you are using a mobile device. Most mobile devices do not support Flash.

To fix the problem:

Open your browser on your BB
Press Menu (the button to the left of your track pad/ball)
Options
Browser Configuration
Scroll down to Browser Identification and make sure the setting is Blackberry. If the settings is Firefox or Internet Explorer this is your problem.
Firefox or Internet Explorer settings tell the server your using a computer and that is why your being asked to update Flash.
If your setting is BB, then the server will automatically use the mobile site at m.youtube.com

Hope that helps!!

You are saying what I said....Use the mobile youtube site. I wasn't going to guess at what the OP was doing or not doing.

But since I posted above I've learned that with 6.0 the mobile site redirections do not always work the way we've been used to. Assuming you can change the browser emulation in OS 6 (I don't know), there's no guarantee setting it to BlackBerry will correct redirection issues.

At any rate, it would have been good if the OP had followed up, but doesn't look that's ever going to happen.

Do you have a shortcut/icon for YouTube in your media folder? Mine came with that and it automatically takes you to the mobile site.
