First, do you have a blackberry data plan? Not just the generic mobile data, but the data service specific to blackberry. You will not be able to use blackberry brand data apps without it. That said, I'm not much help if you don't have a blackberry data plan. But if that is the case, go into options and set your default browser to hotspot browser. Make sure your your mobile network option is not set to mobile network only.

If you do have a blackberry data plan, do a hard reset. Once connected to the RIM network, the wfi symbol on the home screen will turn bright white.

If wifi connection is enabled and mobile network is disabled in manage connections, all data must come and go from the device over wifi. If/when you have a blackberry data plan, it is possible that blackberry data could count against your cap (if you have one), even over wifi, and that is something you will need to confirm with your carrier. Blackberry data would be things like blackberry messenger, push email, any blackberry brand apps (like facebook) that access the RIM network, etc. It is likely that non-blackberry data would not count against your cap if on wifi, but again, confirm with your service provider.
