Default Battery drainage!

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone else's battery drain really fast? I recently got a Bold 9000 from my friend, but it was passed down to her from her father before getting to me. I find that the battery lows down low really fast.

For example, I went to work in the morning with 100% battery and it didn't use it until I went on my break. Throughout my broken up 45-minute break, I went on Facebook twice, texted some people and BBM'ed my best friend. When I resumed work, the battery had already dropped to 65%. Is this normal, or should I invest in a new battery?

Also, I noticed that when I look at my opened applications, I have the same five open all the time: Browser, BBM, Messages, Phone and Home Screen. I can't ever close any of these so they're always open. Could that be attributing to my battery drainage, and if so, how do I close them once and for all?

A 35% drop in battery power does seem a bit extreme for that small amount of usage but that could be attributed to a lot of things... Is your WiFi on? Are you on 3G or 2G? If on 3G, are you in a weak signal area? What about your screen brightness? What is it set to?

As far as those programs go - those are always running and cannot be closed. Should not have a dramatic impact on your battery drainage.

Also, what version OS are you running? Have you searched for battery issues related to the version you are running?

It may be possible that the battery is getting 'weaker'. However, I have a battery that is 2+ years old and I have no problem getting through an entire day's worth of use on one charge. I use the mobile browser regularly, send 5 or so emails a day and around 50 texts with about 20-40 minutes of actual talk time.

If you do go with a new battery, do your research. A REAL Blackberry Battery will run in the neighborhood of $40. Many knockoffs out there, especially on Ebay. They will be 1/4 the price but you do get what you pay for...

Wifi = Off. My screen brightness is like, 10. I don't even know what OS I'm running on.

WOW. Lower the screen to about 50%. Make sure there are no data apps running int he back ground.

Read the article at the link I posted.

As was mentioned, I'd check that wi-fi is off and bluetooth is off under manage connections( unless you are using them of course ) I've also found it helpful to turn the backlight brightness down a bit and set the backlightimeout to 30 seconds ( or less) This is under options/screen and keyboard.

Will do. Before I do, if I changed the screen brightness to 50%, wouldn't that be more than the 10% that I have it to set? I know I'm terrible at math, but... you know. Just wanna clarify.

To get your version OS:
type "myver" without the quotes, then hit [space] in a new message/note.
It would look like 9000/*.*.*.***, or something.

As far as screen brightness, if you have it set to 10, you're fine. Dubdub may have read it as 100?

Also, I had battery issues with my old Curve before, regarding water damage. On the bottom of the battery, there's a white sticker - is it still white? considering the passing down of the Bold.
