Could be just the battery meter needing to be re-calibrated. Check out the FAQ: Maximum Battery Life - BlackBerryFAQ. If that doesn't work, try another battery in there and see if that doesn't fix it up.

Li-ion batteries do not need to be recalibrated. Perhaps the power meter in your theme isn't correct.

Try another theme that showers power remaining and see if that has a different indication when it shuts off.

Typically, the newer OS' power off at between 5 and 10% remaining to prevent damage to the battery.

I am getting this issue as well. Where the device will completely power off versus turning the radio off as it had done previously. At the 15-20% mark where it would usually switch the device's radio off it seems to completely power off and not allow me to power it back on until charging.

I had the same problem. I couldn't count on my battery indicator at all.
It turned out that the battery in my unit was a 1300mAh battery and it got fixed by buying a 1550mAh battery instead. Got no idea why it was a 1300mAh battery in my box - all unboxings I've seen it was a 1550mAh battery.
I hope this helps.

Quintus.
