Red face Trackball Lighting

Please Login to Remove!

I have a question for those select few who have figured out how to make their Trackball on their BB Pearl light up with multicolors when recieving a call. Are the colors very bright and vibrant, (Like the sidekick 3's trackball) or are they very weak and dull? Thanks so much!

Well i would say in the dark they would be bright. However i only see the colors on the track ball when its an MP3 ringtone. It does do different colors though.

Its similar to the Sidekick. To change that option hit the call button, menu, options, general options and then change ringtone lighting (at the bottom) to trackball.

In direct sunlight it's sort of dull, but you can tell it's changing colors, you really see the colors pick up in dim/low light. I hope in a future update they will enable some option to use these lights for messages/email/im's.

I think it's a "cool" thing? More form than function. It could be "eye-catching" in a dark but noisy environment.

I could be wrong, but then again, I'm in the 28-35 age range so I'm a little "out of touch" with what's cool and what's not.

Its the shizz nit, yo.

Im in the 28-33 age demopgraphic as well, and I could care less if the ball tunrs green, jumps up and smacks me in the head as long as I get e-mail and phone in one device. But than again I like the trackwheel anyway.

LMAO @ "It's the shizz nit, yo"

Do "they" still say shizz nit? I agree I don't like it when balls turn colors, especially blue.

LOL....I need that laugh withtthe day Im having.

Here is one of the issues with a "Consumer-berry" vs "Prosumer-berry". I need to be more tolerant on simple things. Some people need their track ball to be multicolored, me I need reliable communication and a stable platform. That is not to say my issues are anymore important that anyone else's. I just needed to laugh. The 8100 brings a whole new arena of discussion to this forum.

PS. I still say the shizz-nit because Im cool...

LoL. I just think the multicolored trackball looks cool and it also makes my Pearl a bit more eye-catching in the dark. And no.. Shizz-nit is not widely used anymore! Still fun to say tho!...

People get a kick out of it when the pearl lights up. I'm sure that'll wear off though once they get theirs once Rogers launches it.

I'm a little worried RIM has shoved a few too many "gadgets" into this one.

And this is coming from a 19 year old.

It's like saying:
-"It's the Bomb, YO"
-"It's the Sh*t Yo"
-"Hey, That's a VERY Cool Feature, don't you agree?"
-"I just think the world of that feature, don't you agree?"
-"It's simply Groovy Man"
-"How Fab!"

All depends on your age range.

Man did this thread go out into the weeds!

The magic colored ball needs to be brighter if it's going to be "cool" honestly, I'd rather see the LED at the top of the unit flash colors. I had a phone that did that a while ago, admittedly, you could NOT miss that silly thing in a dark room.

I had it on the passenger's visor on a long trip once. It was night-time and the phone rang. I sh*t my pants cause out of the corner of my eye I thought it was a State Trooper pulling me over. I almost drove off the friggin road!
