Cool Hutch India

Please Login to Remove!

Hi.. Anyone on hutch india who has managed to get tcp/ip working on their BB? I tried using their apn "www" in the settings for tcp but get a bad dns error when using any third party apps.

The CS have no clue what I am talking about and keep telling me that there must be something wrong with my third party apps.

Funnily, if I add on a normal data package.. Everything works fine, but it charges me over and above my unlimited BB package.

I am using BIS from hutch

Any help at all would be appreciated

Ashish, not that this might help you too much, but I roamed in India with my cingular bb plan and had nothing configured for tcp settings but had the browser and everything else work just fine.

xxaarraa, All the native blackberry apps such as the browser, email, gtalk, google maps etc. work fine. The problem comes when any third party apps try and connect to the internet. Either I get the "Open tunnel failure" or the "Bad DNS Failure"

yup sounds like your tcp settings are configured wrong. You heard about the wap.cingular, [email address] and CINGULAR1 settings for cingular users? Do a quick search. You ahve to find the settings for Hutch and you should be all set.

I couldnt get jivetalk to work without the settings, then fixed it and now jivetalk works.

I was in India in March and Apr and roamed on Airtel network with T-MO SIM and no problem whatsoever. Looks like Hutch is blocking the connection. I tries roaming on Hutch and got the same errors but jumping over to Airtel worked fine.
Iwould recommend AirTel.

Ashish,
We were also getting the same error.

Instead of www, I gave APN as blackberry.net (This was told by hutch people). It stopped giving bad DNS error after that. However, app is still not able to connect. It is not able to open a connection.

I have been told to subscribe to Advanced GPRS service of hutch for this to work. That is going to be actived in next 48 hours.

did you get any success in the meantime?

whats apn?

on my 8800 (on hutch), the APN is internet.com, with username and pasword blank.

I have tried using third party applications like google maps and some games which have no problem connecting to the internet.
