Default New Bold 9650: Cannot sync with laptop

Please Login to Remove!

I bought yesterday a new Blackberry Bold 9650 from Sprint. Since 2008, I was using the great Nextel BB 8350i. I could not sync the Bold. I have always a message: MTP USB Device failed. I called Sprint and followed exactly their instructions: re-installing the Desktop software. No positive results.

I think it's important to know where you are getting the error you idicate above.

Is the error on the 9650 or on your PC?

This is a Windows problem, not a BB one. Windows is choosing the wrong USB driver to use with the BB. I assume that you are running Windows 7 on the PC?

Do this:

First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

1. Click "Start" button, type xxx8220;devmgmt.mscxxx8221; (without quotation marks) in the xxx8220;Searchxxx8221; bar and press "Enter". Click xxx8220;Continuexxx8221; if necessary.

2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

3. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.
