Default 12g micro SD on 8320/OS Upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

So I am in the market for a micro SD card for my 8320 and been doing some research on what is available. Imma music/junkie so I would prefer getting the biggest card available which I believe is the 12g.

I have learned that with my current OS 4.2 I can only use 4g cards but the higher OS 4.3 can use 8g or even more.

What I would like to know is which OS will be necessary in order to use the 12g card and how would I go about upgrading to that OS? I have been unable to find any answers to this question while browsing these forums so I was inclined to make my first post.

Thanks in advance.

Definitely 4.5. However, the OS has not been released to the public yet. Also, the 12Gb card is not available to the public yet either.

I've successfully used an 8GB MicroSDHC card in the BlackBerry Curve with various builds of OS 4.5, 12GB and 16GB MicroSDHC cards should work also but not out on the market yet. If they're not too pricey I'll definitely pick up a larger card as 8GB isn't enough for me.

Thanks guys.

Any ETA for 4.5? I need to know if I should fork over some dough for a 4g to hold me over for a while or if I should just grit my teeth with my 1g and try to wait it out.

You can get the 8gb, and format it in the Blackberry to 4gb. Then, once the new OS comes, you can re-format it back to 8gb.

Or, you can use the 1gb, lol

I got lucky and picked up a 2 pack (2 m-sd cards, 2 adapters, even 2 cases) at Fry's Electronics for $26. So while i only have 2gb in the phone at a time, I can swap cards to get at the other data... It may not be the easiest solution, but the price sure was right!!

zipzoomfly.com has a 4GB microSD for $18.99. I have one coming - it's a great deal and one option to tide you over till larger cards are available.

I just picked up an 8gb, didn't see sandisk offering 12gb....

I heard sandisk is releasing a 16gb in June!

Hopefully I can find 4.3+ for my 8820...
