For now at least it looks like you need an official carrier branded device to use UMA.

Think it has something to do with a window created by the 8220 release? Maybe have to wait a few months?

Agreed, I just wish they would make some kind of an announcement.

It would be awesome if that thing that shocks us is a 8900 with 3G on T-Mobile. But, I don't see that happening.

i wouldn't get my hopes up on a 8900 3G on T-Mobile, but that would definitely be a shocker

8900 on TMO
Well RIM's regular quarterly financial results will be announced tomorrow afternoon.
Maybe we'll get some insight during the conference call??

If the 8900 comes out in mid january/early february, would be perfectly ok with me. I mean, I want this phone like a junkie needing a fix but that's also tax season, and would be alot more cost effective to use a bit of that income return to pay this bad boy, considering it won't be no $50 phone

8900 to T Mobile Feb 9, 2009. I won't edit this post, and we will see if I am/was correct.

TmoNews is reporting that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is scheduled to launch on T-Mobile U.S. on February 18, 2009. This release date is very close to the rumblings we have been hearing at BlackBerry News. As more develops on the release date we will keep you posted. We also can’t count out an earlier release by AT&T.

I think we can count out an earlier release by ATT. They're knee deep in Bold issues with their 3g network and their 2g network is supposedly pretty used up right now (hence no option on the Bold to use only 2g). I can't see them releasing another BB this soon. I can see Tmob doing it. Their EDGE network runs very fast with BBs, faster than ATTs 3g in many locales in the US and Canada. That's what I'm hoping for. 8900s are still selling for $500-600 on ebay through Canada.

February 18 is not too bad. I wanted it sooner, but I can wait a few more weeks I guess.

on engadget there's a Rogers ad showing off a new 82XX with 3G. that's right, a Pearl 2 aka Kickstart with 3G. there've been rumors that T-Mo US has surprises in store for early 09. maybe, just maybe the reason why the new Curve has been delayed is because of the addition of 3G? here's hoping. 3G, love it or hate it, it would be a great addition to the new Curve. if battery drain is an issue, you can do what bold and iphone owners do and turn the 3G radio off.

TMO 3G BB devices ???
Well judging by the looks over their 3G coverage map - which I know are notoriously lame - TMO better getting cranking on their 3G rollout plans.
Perhaps someone can lend a little valid insight on this topic.
