Sorry, friend, you'll have to call the carrier on this one.

Most require SOME kind of SMS plan. Blackberry data and SMS are two different things.

There's no universal rule across the various carriers. If your carrier offers SMS included in a Blackberry data plan then yes. Odds are that your SMS usage isn't covered, in my experience.

Depends on your carrier, but its not likely that you have any SMS included in your BB add on.With T-Mo,they have specific bundles that will include SMS,but otherwise you either have to add a text messaging plan or be prepared to pay for each message sent/recieved.Call your carrier to find out before you get a shocking bill !

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I had this battle with T-Mo already. Apparently the regular unlimited BB plan does include the 300 text msgs but if you have a voice plan and do the add-on unlimited BB plan you do NOT get the 300 msgs. It is very misleading on the website. And apparently it confuses the retail reps as well because the rep stated it did but billing wouldn't budge because it did not appear on the contract.

This is straight off the T-Mobile website:

How many text messages do I get with this plan?

With BlackBerry Unlimited, you get 300 free inbound and outbound text messages a month. After that, each message is only $0.10. If your device supports instant messaging, you can also send and receive instant messages.

I also spoke with a local rep on Sunday who told me the same thing. I would challenge them on this.

The Blackberry Unlimited Plan is different from the Blackberry Add On.

The add on, no SMS
