Bes 4.0, 4.1, 5.0

We are currently running a BES 4.0 server.
It does the job fine and I'm a big fan of the Blackberry system.
We didn't upgrade to 4.1 - mainly because we didn't think we would want any of the features it offered.
4.0 works fine and it didn't seem worth the upgrade.
Some people now want to use "Location Tracking" (I believe it is called) which appears to be a 4.1 feature and not something available in 4.0
So at last we've found a feature we want and to make the upgrade worth while.
I however now see that Blackberry are hoping to have BES 5.0 out by the end of the year or early 2009.
So this now poses a question.
Do we upgrade to 4.1 now for this feature and then in two months time see that 5.0 is released and we are looking at doing and paying for another upgrade.
Or do we hold out, adopt 5.0 early?
Last question - in the past have Blackberry offered "cheap or free" upgrades to those who buy a product late in development?
For example when 4.1 was released were people who bought 4.0 within say 1-2 months of 4.1 release entitled to a free or cheap upgrade to 4.1?
Basically - if we bought 4.1 now and 5.0 appeared within a month or two would we likely see any discount?
We're on Vodafone in the UK - so we deal directly with them rather than being able to deal directly with RIM.
