Default Should have new Torch today!

Please Login to Remove!

Have not been on here for a while. Due to my expensive ATT contract I finally got out of and went with a Tracfone to save some money. it worked well but BOY did I miss my Curve 8310. Could not take it any more so I found a deal on the net for a refurb Torch.

I hope I will be happy. I just missed the BB calender and reminders, web, contacts. Yes maybe there are "faster" phones but for what I do I just cannot beat the BB.

The Torch arrived. Got it charged and got familiar with it last night.

One thing I'm very surprised at is no cell phone ever got reception inside our under ground concrete earth home. Last night I was getting 3G with 5 bars in the house. Even took a call inside. Never happened before. Love it!!

How do you like it? I just got a Torch about an hour ago - First thing I did was a device format... Its sitting next to me with a white screen & 507 error and I'm trying to figure out what OS version and how to configure it...

Anyone have suggestions, etc.???

Gotta ask. Why the heck did you do that?

507 = no device software (i.e. no OS)

Find the latest OS thread for your model in the section of the forum for you BlackBerry series. Or else download and install the latest OS version for your model from your carrier.

That's what I do for pretty much everything I get from computers to phones - Why go through the hassle of configuring the stock factory OS when I can #1 - easily just download the OS from ATT/RIM via desktop manager and #2, use a newer operating system/Beta version and install it without all the junk and crap from ATT/RIM.

The OS is free of carrier "junk", as its customised by service books from the carrier.
Which you'll get once activated on the correct data plan.

So what can go in terms of BB Boss OS Shrinker? When I removed EVERYTHING it didn't work at all... When I install the OS "stock" or "full" install it works fine - is there a happy medium or am I just risking an unstable OS build?

Things you don't use.
i.e. built in applications. Voice activated dialling springs to mind, wallpapers and music etc.
