Seems that there is an issue with the Thumbnail preview in FW 190. If you go to the picture list the preview is not loaded. Correct?

I am a new BB user (there, newbie warning out of the way ) and thanks to the good info. here on this forum, I figured out how to flash the new OS on my new Bold yesterday. I too see the problem with no thumbnail previews working. Slideshow works, but not thumbnails..... bummer....

Need help.... I'm a complete noob when it comes to Blackberrys.
First, I just got Bold (AT&T) as an early christmas present last Friday. I found this forum, and figured I would go ahead and upgrade the OS before I got the thing loaded with data. I followed the directions at the beginning of this thread, with no Joy.... The loader told me that there were no upgrades for my device.
The device is a Bold 9000, v4.6.0167 Platform 4.0.0.157.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

Are you sure you deleted the vendor.xml file?

You can also upgrade through the Desktop Manager. Grab the latest from here:

Oh, in case it makes any difference:
Using Vista, chose "No" to turn on Mass Storage Mode, Desktop Manager v4.6.0.13
All files in the AppLoader dir have a date of 6/20/08, except "device.xml" which has todays date

Something is amiss with your install.... all my files in the
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
directory are pretty much 10/21/2008. Are you sure you ran the
OS package .exe once you downloaded it? It should explode the files
into this subdir, then remove the vendor.xml file, then run the loader.exe
tool .... I am running the latest DM 4.7 though.... but I would be surprised if
that had anything to do with it.....

Well, I had double clicked on it... a window opened, and then closed... I presumed (oops) that it had worked.....
Ran the .exe in a command window, and got "program too big to fit in memory"

If you're using Vista, right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator."

FWIW I ran this on my Vista SP1 machine just fine. I am an admin on the machine and I have that Vista protect-mode "warning thing" turned off (whatever they call that "feature"), and I got a regular UI window up when I ran the 95+ MB O.S. installer package that let me press "Next" etc to install itself... not sure why you are not seeing that on your PC.... weird. Just for fun, try turning off (temporarily) any antivirus tools. I run ESET all the time, and it did not prevent me from installing this package, but perhaps there is something else blocking it on your particular system.... just trying to think outside the box here....

Well, I am at a loss as to why this won't execute here. I'm the admin on this computer, also.... Maybe I have a corrupt file.... Downloading again now.

I would like to thank everyone who tried to help me.
I redownloaded the sofware, and it ran correctly. Unfortunately, I'm leaving on travel in the morning, and am a bit leary of installing the upgrade.
Does this upgrade require ny intervention by AT&T, or should my connections work the same once the upgrade is complete?
Thanks again...

You may need to resend service books when you're done, but that's about it (unless you're on a BES.)

Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table >Menu key >Register Now.
Then click on your "Manage Internet Email" icon and go into your BIS account and resend service books. Usually I don't have do either of these after an upgrade. But it takes only a few moments.

Thank you Jax, conker and John for the help.
I have completed the upgrade, with the added bonus of Blackberry Maps.
I will never know what I was missing with .167
