Default Exchange 2003 to 2007 migration - Bes users no longer receiving messages

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

We installed exchange 2007 on server 2008 a couple of weeks ago and everything has been working fine. We also installed a 2nd DC 2008 server and it too have been working fine. We migrated the user mailboxes this weekend to exchange 2007 from the 2003 exchange server and thats where things have gone wrong.

Our Bes server was working correctly until we moved the users mailboxes to the new server now all BES users are down

They are no longer receiving any new mail and can not send either - no wireless sync of any data seems to be occurring.

I was under the impression from reading some of the posts here that the bes server would update its info by speaking with AD - and it looks like it knows the new exchange servers URL but nothing is working.

Under BB server configuration and the Mapi profile is shows new server and BESadmin but when you hit check name - it advises it can not resolve the name.

Could you please advise what additional items need to be updated. Assume I am just missing a setting here.

Bes server is version 4.1.4.17

thanks,

TheSonicGod

How did you migrate the mailboxes from the Exchange 2003 to 2007 ?
I think unless you used the tools on the exchange server to move the mailbox, the blackberry related information is lost.

But, you say, you cannot activate a new user ?
have you tried to create a new empty mailbox + user account, and then activated this without success ?

Have you tried to use iemstest.exe (in the utility folder of the BES program folder) on a user ?

there is a KB article:
http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/b...rnalId=KB13842

dont know, if that matches you problem, because there should me more on the log then just user xyz not started.

This BES server has only 3 BB users on it so I am wondering if it would not be easier just to wipe it and reload it with a newer version of BES or BESx.

Does anyone know what I would need to do to the devices or if this is a bad idea because they have been on a BES server already?

devices will need to be wiped if making a new BES unless you use transporter in bulk mode.

If you currently have a BES Express V4, and replace this with the free BESx v5, keep in mind the the amount of IT policies you have is rather limited against what you are able to do with the BES v4.
