Well, the 8X is also coming to Verizon, but I'm heavily considering switching back to AT&T because there are some days when I really don't want to use a smartphone at all, and I really miss being able to just switch whenever I please. I looked at the 820 at AT&T today, and I really didn't care for the specs on it or its shape.
I'm trying to crunch the numbers and see what will be best financially since I'm not traveling for work anymore, but I know I really need to be back on a GSM system and I don't want to lose out on LTE, which pretty much makes it AT&T. I used T-Mobile for a very long time, but their failed merger really screwed things up and their CS has gotten bad.
Anyway, I'm sure we'll be talking some more here later in the week.

Re: Wow - what an article
Went to the store to get an 8X, came out with a fire engine red 920. LOL
I've got pretty much all of the apps that I use with the exception of Pandora, which is pretty good for a new OS.
Panorama camera seems to not be as good as Apple.

Peer pressure, to be sure. Congratulations on an excellent purchase.
Which panorama/camera app are you using (I haven't tried them out yet)...
Did you get the wireless charging pad?

I'm trying to use Nokia's Panorama app. The pad had to be ordered as they didn't have them in stock, but it is coming for free.
Now to sell all of my VZW stuff...

Re: Wow - what an article
I just watched a review of the 920 and am really liking what I saw. Big Improvment from the old MS days. Oh and it looks big.

It's not the size, it is how you use it.
It is big, but not so heavy.

Re: Wow - what an article
I also have solved my Pandora problem with an app called MetroRadio Pro. I actually like it better than the Pandora apps I've had on iOS and Android.

It is a battery hog for sure though.
I do need to figure out how to rename the phone for Bluetooth purposes though. I don't like it being just "Windows Phone". LOL

Re: Wow - what an article
I figured out how to rename the device... It has to be done in the PC/Mac interface.
I also figured out the main battery hog. It's Nokia Drive+. It defaults to running in the background. Once I shut that off, the device says I have 17 hours left.

Re: Wow - what an article
Hint: I normally shut off EVERYTHING in the background.
And yes, Nokia Drive+ (which is new) is a hog. I just showed someone at lunch how to disable that in the background.

Yeah, I did that last night and it's made a massive difference. I'm at 79% at 1400 today and I've been pretty heavy on it (especially during lunch). I'm more than satisfied with that.

That's good to hear. I think what would get me the most is the built in battery. I carry a few spares with me (like I just did on the road) so I don't have to worry about charging all the time. Also, being too large to operate with one hand (which I do a lot) might be the other but not as bad as the battery. As for all the other stuff, it seems like a good choice. I'm still under contract for my 9930 but I will definately take this unit into consideration along with the BB10 once it's released.
Thanks for the info!

Re: Wow - what an article
NJ, since you're not in an LTE area, using ##3282# and forcing it to 3G only and shutting off ENS should get you even better battery life.

Re: Wow - what an article
No LTE at home, but LTE at work.
The battery life has been good (I have shut off tap+send - NFC - as I never used it) and it is working nicely. No overnight drain (even with e-mails coming in).
Two major issues: No way to log off from Skype and WAV files from PBXs can't be opened.
Outside of that, I really like the phone. In spite of what I am being told on CB that I can't possible like it, or even use it.
Would LOVE to enable the Nokia Diagnostics, which were ##634# on WP7 but not on WP8.

NJ- I had met someone recently in a pub who was getting a 920 and they mentioned the same thing RE: ODDT not being supported by WP8. He did mention that “Basic hardware diagnostic features are included in the Care Suite, e.g. Self tests, Audio test, Display test etc.”. Not as convenient as having the tools on the phone I'm sure. Being that I've never had a WP, was this really useful or just a nice to have feature? As you can see, I'm trying to evaluate this unit along with BB10 (when available) since I have a few months left with the 9930.
Thanks.

Re: Wow - what an article
Nice to have. Only on Nokia devices; 99% of people never heard of it.
I only used one feature on it - it should how well the battery was being recharged (in case I hooked it up to a weaker 500ma charger).
Not a big deal whatsoever.
