Is there anyway to turn that prompt off? If I here that woman's voice one more time I may throw my phone to the bottom of my pool. Every time I touch my phone I somehow manage to touch the 2 side buttons and its driving me insane. Any Help???

PS i have the 8830 VZW

You can assign the convenience key on the left to another function instead of voice dial in the main options application Options->Screen/keyboard->Convenience key open... You can also go into the main Options->Voice Dialing and turn of Audio Prompts.

There is no way to turn that off (I'm pretty sure), but you can change the function of the convenience key (which is what you're hitting). The convenience key by default triggers voice dialing, but you can change it to almost anything that you want. I recomend keyboard lock, others like address book or messages.

To change key: home screen>options>screen/keyboard>then select what you want for the convenience key in the appropriate field.

Actually, there is a way to turn prompts off on Voice Dial. Go into Voice Dial and say "Turn Prompts Off". It will disable the prompts.

Streight from the manual which nobody reads...

Turn off voice prompts
1. In the voice dialing application, wait for the sound.
2. Say "Turn prompts off."

Hell you don't even need to read the manual, it says "turn prompts off" on the screen when you start voice dial.

If you say "check status," it tells you your battery level, signal level, and the status of your coverage.

"Nothing" was an option on my 8830. The key is pretty much disabled now.
