Question BB as modem

Please Login to Remove!

I have the BB Curve 8330 on Alltel/Verizon, can I use it as a modem for my computer? I know Alltel supports it, but am I able to do this with the 8330?

You can do it, but you need to pay for the tethering plan.

What about on the sprint network? I have the blackberry data plan and have no clue how the modem feature works.

It's amazing how that search button works, isn't it?

It's actually easy to do - IF your provider supports it and you either have a plan that includes it or you're willing to pay for it.

I do it a half dozen times a year for work, and all it takes is plugging in the cable to the laptop and BB, and then opening the smartview program (yup, I have Sprint too) that allows the computer to connect.

Simple, stable, and easy.

I know of a way to tether your (Verizon) BB to your computer without having to pay for Broadband Access, but I'm not sure if I should share it here.

Well if it's illegal than I would not share it.
