I got it to work. Even though I am on a BES, I needed to uncheck "On BES". Weird.

Wow. Another great program! But with my Monthly phone service, Nextel Blackberry fee, TeleNav and other stuff... I'm even a little gunshy at adding another few bucks to my plan these days. Although this sounds like a great program!

Kind of pricey. But I may look into it.

Not happy
I tried the program only to find that it automatically sends your contact info to their server - a significant security risk - for which there is no warning!
I noticed that my battery life was cut significantly. For those of you using it, watch how often your transmission arrows are flashing.
In attempting to remove the program, my bbweather and blackberry 411 software no longer work, even after re-loading. My browser works using BES, but I am really having problems with these other two programs that I never had issues with prior to the voice control install/removal.

How do you know it automatically sends your contact info to 'their' server? Is that the developer you're talking about?
I uninstalled VoiceControl it to see what would happen to Berry411 and it still seems to work fine after a reboot (I have a 7100i).

My only beef with the program, well not really beef, just wish it had this capability, is that I would like to be able to ad CC's to emails, and I would like to be able to reply to emails.

After you install voicecontrol, watch while it sends data off to them (the developer I presume). The number of things it sent from mine correlated with the number of contacts I have in my list. My theory is this explains the increased data transmission that was hurting battery life.
All I know is from my experience, when I deleted voicecontrol from the device itself - not using app manager on my pc - both my BBWeather and BB411 could no longer access the internet. I ended up wiping the whole phone. Maybe a coincidence - maybe not.

Why else would it need to contact the intternet do to the search you request? I agree I am not happy with the server having my personal info. I too have deleted it and rebooted and berry 411 works just fine on my 7520

I think it had to do that (unforunately) for it to translate your speech. Your voice goes back to them, their servers translate the text and send it back to the phone.
I also found it a bit annoying how I'd get an e-mail from them saying that their system didn't understand me.

Yeah I figured this out too. At first I was all "WTF?" Then after seeing the message on the screen...I was like "This is stupid, then again to call someone you have to have a signal...."

I noticed that, too. I can make a regular call from my house (with only 1 or 2 bars), but can't use the voicecontrol to do anything.
I noticed it seemed longer to have voicecontrol initiate a call when I am in my car, driving down the road, rather than staying in the same location. Anyone else notice that?

I like it after a week but I am on the road most of the time so it is handy making calls.
I can keep eyes on the road. It's also pretty slick setting appointments.

COOl but...$$ Ouch
You know I have been reading this thread and this stuff sounds really cool... BUT the more I sit and think about it.. I am already spending more a month on my BB service than I did on my first car payment out of college... how wrong is that.
I will say this.. it is really interesting sounding and I hope in a year and a half, assuming an 8700(I) comes out (figures that nextel takes roughly that long to catch up with the other providers on the 8700 series) that the processor and memory capacity will make this software locally placed.
