Question BB9930 - Messages Automatically Deleting w/IMAP Account Only

Please Login to Remove!

Had some trouble with a previous IMAP account with my ISP. They had to reset the account and after that point, I'm having some funky issues with it RE: the 9930. When I receive an email, it will remain on the device. However, when I download the same messages of the server with an email client (such as Outlook), the emails are automatically deleted off of the 9930. This does not happen with any of the POP3 accounts but it is happening with the IMAP account (never did before). Obviously this is a BIS setup and I'm wondering if there is a way to keep the messages on the phone even though I have deleted them off the server. The options for each email account (POP3 & IMAP) are all set to the same parameters on the 9930.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I think the issue lies with the IMAP setting in Outlook. I believe you can configure Outlook to either delete message at the server, or leave them upon download to Outlook. The option isn't configurable through the BIS client. I use Gmail and don't have this issue, so I'm not sure why you have it. Gmail for Outlook IS IMAP.

Yeah...I'll check the setting in Outlook but I remember in the past leaving messages on the phone and then downloading them off the server with Outlook at a later time and of course the messages would still remain on the phone as well as the email client. I can't imagine the BB polling the ISP's server to see if it's gone and then automatically remove it from the phone when no longer on the ISP server. Strange...but all starting happening when the ISP re-initiated this email account so something changed in the background.

-Thanks.

This problem still exists for me. Obviously, something was change by my ISP. So, in order to prevent 'read emails' from being deleted on the BB AFTER downloading them from the server with Outlook, I'm wondering if I need to either a) turn Wireless Reconciliation off or b) go to Synchronization Options and uncheck Deleted Items. The email server is an IMAP server (not POP3). Frustrating...!
