Hello, Blackberry community! We are VERY new and VERY green to the blackberry, it's our first. I myself have the peral 8110. My main question is how or if it is even possible to download internet explore or fire fox or even safari to my blackberry, this is the browsers that my bank website is supported by and I can not get access to my accounts, form my blackberry that is. Can anyone help or offer a direction I might be able to take. Thank you!

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Your options are the native blackberry browser, Opera Mini at http://mini.opera.com and Bolt which is new and has a lot of bugs.

Check out Opera Mini

I'm backing Akosnitzky I would try Opera Mini first, has a good desktop feel and navigates alot smoother then Bolt right now.

Opera also has a Desktop version you can sync Bookmarks betweem.

Some banks do not allow Cell Internet access. I'm sure it has to do with security levels the bank has and not the BB. mine does not.

Many do offer access through their mobile site and Opera Mini. Most of my banking is through Opera Mini. If your bank has a website, check it out on Opera Mini

personally, it looks like opera has abandoned supporting recently released model blackberry phones....

their site still doesn't list the 8900, 9000 or 9500....
kind of like sitting around and waiting for verizon to release an OS....it just aint gonna happen this millennium....

I'd give it more time, Opera Mini releases updates like any other company.

Besides the Storm was revamped alot more then the other BB devices so I'd estimate it's alot hard to code for.

Isn't the Storm's Browser full HTML anyway?

Why after I install the opera mini through the desktop manager I didnt get the browser but instead an icon for the opera mini and when I open it, it says installing. after the progress bar at the bottom hits full then it says "failed to connect to the internet". and doesnt launch the browser itself. did I install it right?

I am using a gprs connection coming from the network. Help. total noob here.

Check the Opera Mini forums to see if there are settings required for your operator.

You might also try changing the native browser to IE emulation. That will frequently fool applications.

but skyfire is in beta stage too, I don't think that Opera has abandoned, when you can, check the Yahoo! Go 4.0 (is beta too) but have an integrated version of Opera

I was always an Opera user but since i loaded the latest software I'm happy enough with it to just use the Blackberry Browser.

This is from the Bolt site:

Does BOLT support encrypted connections?

Yes. When you connect to an ecommerce site, such as ebay or amazon.com, BOLT employs a secure connection that uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt the transaction between the BOLT server and the web-site. The connection between the device and the BOLT server is also encrypted.

It strikes me as an interesting way of wording this. I think it can be interpreted that the connection between the device and Bolt server (where apparently all internet access from the device is routed) is encrypted but in some way other than SSL. I'm not all that familiar with security technology but I wonder if this somehow gives Bolt access to the browser information prior to sending it via SSL to the secured site. Anyone else less then completely comfortable with Bolt security? As I recall, there were other provisions in the EULA that were somewhat troubling.
