Ignore, found the problem.

Normally I would post the solution, but it turned out to be so specific to my home LAN that it's unlikely that anyone else would ever encounter it.

I also had similar problems in the uk with my phone on orange. With the sim card in the wi fi didnt work however as soon as the sim card was unregistered the wi fi worked like a dream. Had to send the phone back as I had no idea how to fix it.

ANy suggestions?
