Default * Verizon Charges to use BB as Modem? * HELP!

Please Login to Remove!

Merry Christmas!

I have been attempting to use my BB as a modem for my Macbook laptop so I can access the internet anywhere. I have been able to create a connection, but I cannot access any pages. I just got off the phone with Verizon and they told me they charge an additional 45$ for 5MB of data. Screw that... I already pay an additional 30$ for unlimited data. How can I get around this charge? I know for sure there are ways to get around this additional data charge, but I just dont know how.

Please let me know how to "Steal" data. Also, I've made a post on howardforums and it may be useful for you. (But unfortunately I cannot post any links here yet)....

Welcome to the site.

My hope is that no one here will show you how to "steal" data if possible.

You do not get around any charges. You pay Verizon $15/mo. to tether legitimately or you purchase TetherBerry as a workaround. If you use TetherBerry, however, you are still subject to charges by Verizon.

Merry Christmas. Nobody here will help you do anything illegal. You need to pony up the charges just like everyone else.

I didn't know it was illegal. I've seen many different posts on youtube and it looks like it works for them the first time... Are different carriers different? I have Verizon...

Not buyin' this. You didn't want to pay the cost, you wanted to 'steal' it. Stealing is illegal.

If superior means I don't steal, well, then yes, I guess I do.

I was looking for help... but obviously this board isn't about answering people's questions... instead we have "online mind-readers" like you who can tell when people are lying on the internet

Look, you came here asking how to knowingly steal from your carrier. I don't need to be a mind reader for that, you wrote it down. I didn't even need a secret decoder ring for that interpretation.

If you think that's what this forum is about, you are sorely mistaken. I'm sure your new friends at HoFo will be happy to help you out. Please go look.

Anything we put in writing is subject to any form of accountability. We live in a transparent society. Will this site be held harmless from Verizon or RIM if they wanted to take action from helping you? Better yet, will any of us individual users be held harmless?

This site has 410,000 members and they seem to be satisfied with the way certain policies are followed.

People will bend over backwards to help you as long as it wont cause a legal problem

After doing a search on this open minded Forum where we all read minds, I found that T-Mobile may not charge for using a BB as a Modem.

Thank you for sharing. That is helpful assuming the user can find a way to bring his locked Verizon Tour and possibly other phones to T-Mobile

When one is a thieving bottom rung of society, it easy for others to be superior to you. It's not just a feeling.

You know, I was driving my car the other day when I realized I was low on fuel. So, I pulled into the nearest gas station to fill up, but those bastards wanted to charge me almost three dollars a gallon! Screw that! I already pay a monthly fee to keep the bank off my back! I'm sure there is a way to get around this fuel charge. I saw a video on YouTube showing how to suck gas out of another car. Can someone here help me "steal" some gas so I can keep driving my car?

Notice I put the word steal in quotes so that I can convince myself that what I want to do is ok.

Oh, and Merry Christmas. That's just to prove that I'm a decent person. I probably should have led with that in my previous post so everyone felt good about me before I dropped the bomb about "stealing" gas.

Live and learn, I suppose. Live and learn.

You weren't looking for help. You were looking for an accomplice. This forum will help anyone with legitimate questions, but we won't help you steal services, break into someone else's BlackBerry, or use illegal software to modify your BlackBerry.

Responces like these are one of the reasons I love blackberryforums.com. Gives me faith that other people out there still have ethics. I don't get that feeling on many of the boards I read.
