Default BES Express Users messed up by DST

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Guys -

We have a Exchange 2003 box and a BES Express Box with 2 Blackberries (Curve and 8700). Both phones are 4.2 Firmware but when putting a calendar appointment on the phone it is coming up 1 hour later on Outlook (Exchange).

What is the course of action for this?

Thanks,
Dan

I am having an issue with this also. Except when appointments are created on the Blackberry, they show up 1 hour LATER in Outlook.

I would make sure that your cdo.dll and MAPI32.dll are the following versions:

cdo.dll: 6.5.7651.61
mapi32.dll: 6.5.7638.1

The following Link as always helped me with my DST issues:

I have run Windows Updates on both the Exchange server and BES Express server. I have run the installer for the new CDO.

Exchange System
Microsoft Corporation
Version: 6.5.7638.

Which according to the chart here http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/searc...rnalId=KB02937 I have the newest CDO.

Still having same problem.

What else can I do?

OK, so from what I gather the version of mapi.dll should depend on what version Exchange you are running. I have not done anything yet since I am waiting on someone to prove the process for correcting this issue.

My Exchange 2003 Server
mapi32.dll 6.5.7266.0
cdo.dll 6.5.7234.20

My BES server
mapi32.dll 6.5.7266.0
cdo.dll 6.5.7266.0

Both of my mapi32.dll files are the same version, but the cdo.dll are different.

How are you finding the versions of mapi and cdo? I went to Exchange System Manager then Help and About and got the Version of hte Exchagne which I compare to that chart. Both version in Exchange are the same (checked on the exchange server, and the system manager for exchange on the BES box).

You can browse directly to the file and then right-click and choose properties, click on the version tab.

mapi32.dll C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin

cdo.dll C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin

go to you exchange server open the command prompt and type: net time

you should get back your NTP server, usually your GC Domain controller and the correct time, also do this on your BES. if both times are correct, exchange and your CDO objects have nothing to do with it..

Next, go to your BES and REMOVE the DST patch (if you have it) if you dont have it you need it. After removal, put it back on and assign it wit the application loader. After that force it out to the handhelds you should be fine after that. On the handheld, select options..if he first thing in the list isnt "DST 2007 PATCH" you need to manually install it via the desktop manager...this is the only way to fix this problem.

BES Server:
cdo.dll - 6.5.7638.2
mapi32.dll - 6.5.7638.1

Exchange Server:
cdo.dll - 6.5.7651.61
mapi32.dll - 6.5.7638.1

So that seems to be another problem. What do I need to do to get those the same?

when I do net time on the exchange box it gives me:
net time
Current time at \\exch-server.domain.local is 3/18/2008 1:40 PM
The command completed successfully.

when I do net time on the BES box it gives me:
net time
Current time at \\domaincontroller is 3/18/2008 1:40 PM
The command completed successfully.

What DST patch? Where is that patch?

And when you say the patch isn't htat only for firmware under 4.2?

Do I need to install a patch on the server itself?

Thanks again guys, please respond. I do get 1 free support with BES but I registered and still waiting on email. Would rather get it done faster.

Thanks again!!

The DST patch was released from Microsoft to be installed on supported OS's when the DST change came about last year. This patch causes your servers and workstation to change the time on the correct NEW date for DST.

The patch should be installed on each of your servers and workstations. Some OS's have an install patch, others have a regedit. If you have been performing Windows Updates, you should have received the patches.

OK. so we've isolated the problem. YES you do NEED the DST patch pushed to handhelds for the time to be corrected.

As i said before, you can download it and install it manually via the desktop manager....quick, simple and painless.. the patch has nothing to do with outlook, exchange or your local machine..its a fix for the phones OS

or you can push it from the BES, eithe way everything you need is right here:

BlackBerry

totally different topic, if you have a WSUS or automatic updates turned on this is transparent and should not affect calendaring and the handhelds.

and

Download details: Update for daylight saving time changes in 2007 for Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 (KB 926666)

Okay so I followed it how to do the wireless push. I clicked on my name in BES Manager and did Assign Software Configuartion. However it doesn't say what to do after that.

Does it automatically install it or does the user of the phone need to do something? I don't see DST Patch listed in my Options

if you set up the configuration properly, takes up to 4 hours to push to the devices.

if you followed the instructions and assinged the the software config with the IT policy...and you only have 2 phone? should be no more than 30mins. the phone will automatically pull it down and restart themselves. OR you can turn off the phone, take of the batt and turn it back on and it will poll the BES and pull it down then.

Hope i was of some help. if you need anymore help, here is my pin: 401470d8
