I never get all you people with all this long battery life.
I get only 12 hours solid with the Bold, on .162, with EDGE only, and Wifi and Bluetooth off.
I can never get nearly the battery power that others claim, on any phone. Maybe my body sucks battery power. Maybe I am the Energizer Bunny ....

Umm I don't know about you all. I'm barely getting 10 hours. And I just have jive running like 70% of the time. 10% brightness 30 back light and auto dim. How in blazes do you keep all that running? Does gps drain it a lot? By the way on a super side note. Does the yahoo search/mail app no longer exist? Oh and I have like 16~11mb free. These things need more onboard ram!! Other than that I Love it!! And a bigger battery!

JiveTalk (and other IM clients) will drain the battery very quickly if you leave it on. I can go for around 3 days in 3G areas with a ton of emails (about 250 a day), a few calls and some light browsing. I will go to under 24 hrs of battery life with Jivetalk constantly running.

Os
The new Oss have made a dramatic difference. With .167, I can leave wifi and bluetooth on all the time (without necessarily using them) get a hundred emails a day and have a couple of ten minute conversations, and get two days.
Definitiely an adjustment from the 8800 where 3-4 days was the norm.

This all depends on how much you use it. Amount of apps running in the backround, these are all factors.

I just ordered a 1700 mah battery from a company here in the USA via the following link:
BC 1700 mah Slim Extended Battery for BlackBerry Bold 9000 For BlackBerry - BlackBerry Bold - Batteries - Fommy.com
This one apperently is the exact same dimensions as the stock battery, so you don't need a replacement battery cover, and it doesn;t change the frm factor of your Bold.
It'll be here in a few days, and after I use it for several days, I will let y'all know if it makes a noticeable difference.

Bold Battery Life
I have a counterintuitive suggestion to make: leave your Wi-Fi on and connected.
My first few days with the Bold I turned everything off (based on WinMo 3g experience): Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc and experienced a drain of my battery that needed charging by 5:00. When working from home one day, I left Wi-Fi on and connected: I had 50% battery at the end of the day.
My theory is this: The Wi-Fi radio in the Bold is very power efficient, much more so using the 3g radio. For the BB data needed for email, Wi-Fi can retrieve the data faster and with lower latency further reducing the radio use and drain on the battery.
Try this and let me know your results...

That's an interesting theory. I wonder how much power the WiFi is using when it's not connected to a network. It's probably using some power to search for the networks it has profiles for.

Not much luck with battery either, running .167 on my 4 day old Bold. Fully charged, and going to bed, I wake up with a substantial drain on my Bold. I have to assume too that maybe Viigo and Beejive are major battery drain applications.
Wifi is on and so it BT, and the brightness was 60%.
I am upgrading to .190, cutting the brightness to 30% and probably get the AIM application and be more observant to require wifi on or not, and see if that brings me a bit more battery, otherwise it is true, I need to charge my phone at every opportunity to not end up with no juice.

I updated yesterday to the .190 OS which is out in the wild, and I "think" I am doing great on the battery now.
I cut down to 30% brightness, but wifi, bt is on overnight plus I have jivetalk and viigo running too. I woke up this am with my battery almost full!! like minimal drain.
I am hoping that is consistent and not some lucky coincidence . So for now I will continue to use jive talk, as I find it to be a really nice application rather having multiple IM applications.
