Default Rogers Bold to bell mobility

Please Login to Remove!

hey everyone. new member, first post. im sure this question has already been asked and answered a million times already, but even after reading alot of the threads about unlocking blackberry's, im still a little confused. I'm on bell network. i have a Lg voyager right now, but its screwed up and i want a blackberry. problem is im not eligible for an upgrade for 6 months. anyway, ive found a new bold 9700 for sale for about 200 bucks. its brand new, but its a rogers phone. the seller says it can be changed to work on bell. he mentioned flashing it or something. i just want to know if its a good idea to buy this phone, and if i do, how much trouble is it to have it changed to work with bell? what exactly is it i have to do with it? is it safe to do? thanks alot.

It can work. You just have to "unlock" the Rogers' Bold.. there is nothing to "flash"

The frequencies are the same between the GSM networks of Bell & Rogers. The only real kicker is what you might have to do on Bell to get them to move you from their CDMA network to the new GSM network. To use the Rogers phone, you will need a Bell SIM card. Bell doesn't use those on their CDMA network. So to give you that capability and SIM, will Bell count that as an upgrade? That may be the unanswered question.
