Could someone clear up for me exactly how the BES reads the Lotus mailboxes? Because Ive read the installation guides and its fairly clear that in the Exchange setup theres a BESAdmin mailbox setup that has read access .etc. to the user's mailboxes. I can't see anywhere in the Domino documentation where a mailbox is being setup with permissions on other mailboxes, so Im wondering how exactly does the BES manage to poll user's mailboxes??

The BES is installed on a Domino Server in your Domino Named Network. Due to the secure nature of Notes/Domino, the users mail file must explicitly grant the BES server manager rights to their mail file.

So if my mail server was MAIL01 and the BES was BES01, my ACL in for my mail file would be:

ACL..............................User Type....................Access

Anonymous....................Unspecified.......... .........No Access
BES01/DNN.....................Server.................... .....Manager
MAIL01/DNN....................Server..................... ....Manager
