Will the 8800 coming out in January for T-mobile have GPS? I feel like this has not been talked about too much recently with the discussion of release dates.

I agree with DanUC6. In both my hometown and at my university, t-mobile gets horrible, if any service. I've been really happy with Cingular, but I would be even more happy if I could have a QWERTY/camera/wifi with them. i hope cingular gets the camera 8800 by summer.
and also, I read the boy genius interview, what is the "perfect" device? i know that's a dumb question because (i assume) we don't know much about it, but what could make the device so much more perfect? to me, it sounds like the 8800 would have it all...

I agree, if this things drops with wifi like it is supposed to I am sold!!! I believe it will have gps, but if you want up to date info (meaning all the new maps) on it you will have to subscribe to it.

All ths T-mobile talk is driving me mad. I just don't seem them dropping this phone on both carriers at the same time!?!?!? Has it ever been done before? I heard around these forums that providers sometimes will disable wifi on the phone. Is there truth to this?? Battery is off, please put it back on!!! Thats the selling point for me, because I always forget to put my battery back on!! (haha)

I gotta say this is a really sharp device. I got to play with one a short bit today. I don't know if it will be included for production models, but this one had a rubber case (I guess) that came with the device. Personally, I think the keyboard on the 8800 is easier to use than the 8700. This is a great looking device, the screen is awesome and I might have to buy one myself. I am looking to use telenav and it only currently shows working with the pearl. I don't want to be a convert or anything, but the 8525 is a nice device as well, it's HSDPA and available now and it works with telenav. I wouldn't mind giving Good a try in any case.

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, as I find the 8700 keyboard dreadful.
Now I AM READY to buy one.

The version that I am speaking of will be the one Cingular carries. I am not sure which version since I haven't had a lot of exposure to the various versions. It looks just like the one in the picture on thread titled "...and what do you think about that". I think the roller ball (which made a clicking sound while rolling it) in the middle vs. the scroll wheel on the side could be a nice change (never used the pearl, so I don't have expereince here), although, the scroll wheel makes for easy one handed operation in terms of ergonomics for me. I think the difficulty with the roller ball will come in with being able to easily select what you want on the screen. With the scroll wheel, it was either forward or backward. The roller ball moves in all directions. The screen is really sharp. I also like how you don't have to remove the battery to get to the expandable memory. The expandable memory tray sits kind of perpendicular to sim card under the battery cover. I would not do justice to any type of review since I only held it for about 5 minutes. Sorry, I haven't replied sooner, I have been busy at work.

Speaking of the keyboard
I mentioned earlier that I thought the keyboard on Cingular's version of the 8800 would be easier to use. I based this on my ability to type more quickly and accurately without looking at the keyboard itself. When you look at the images that were posted in "...and what do you think about that" thread, you may have the same initial impression that I did in thinking, this new BB is going to be more difficult to type on than the 8700, but I was wrong. I just thought I might give some clarification to my keyboard comment.
P.S. I have tried the 8525 for reasons that are too lengthy to mention (I know, 40 lashes) and I am returning it today. When a manufacturer is able to produce a windows mobile phone that doesn't freeze up when I try to connect the old Bluetooth, I might consider it again. Everytime I venture out though, I keep coming back to my BB.
