I had a 7130e that used to do that when I took out the battery. The solution was to pull the battery and hold the power button down for 1 minute. Then it would boot back up.
But, I had not dunked the thing and then allowed charge to continue through the board, shorting circuits and making a general mess of things...
If the water indicators are truly undamaged you got lucky. You might just be able to return it to the store?
Have you tried to attach it to a PC? Can it be read in windows as mass storage?
