Hi

Anyone have any idea what a "543" error means on a Blackberry and how this can be fixed?

I had the same error appear during a failed upgrade with a 6280. Now unable to complete the upgrade. This is the second upgrade that has failed in this manner. No more upgrades for me until I can figure what the code means and if there is a fix.

Get a copy of Javaloader (search for it here - it has been posted) and wipe out the BlackBerry totally. Use the DOS command Javaloader -usb wipe to wipe off all programs.

Download the latest version of the handheld Operating System for your BB from your carrier. Execure the downloaded file to extract the new OS.

Locate and delete "Vendor.XML" on your C: drive.

Restart Desktop Manager; the OS should reload.

Make sure that your BB is connected irectly to your PC and not through a USB hub.

Good luck!

Default Error 543 ... thanks!

Your replies for the individual with the 7200 also worked for the 6750 ... with the change -p2 instead of -usb. Thanks a million!

As listed in the KB article linked below...

Error 543 (VM_FS_MISMATCH): Incompatible Java filesystem installed
The VM has detected that the OS binary is different than the OS binary used to create the Java file system. This means that the Java native methods may not be linked properly and as such, the integrity of the system cannot be guaranteed. The system can be recovered by using the VM DLFX and DLPS commands to delete the fixups and persistent store. This will clear all data and fixups and let the filesystem relink to match the new OS binary. The recovery order is important: 1) Delete Fixups 2) Delete Persistent Store 3) Reset device.
