Default " An account already exist for this PIN" ??

Please Login to Remove!

My friend bought three new 8100 devices, they are from O2 uk, Vodafone UK and Orange UK.
To check if the PIN/IMEI are valid, I visited RIM website
https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/html/ ,
then connect to O2 uk, Vodafone UK and Orange UK e-mail account links, then I enter into "creat new account".

when I typed IMEI/PIN from the back of each device, two of them come with the notice " An account already exist for this PIN" and one with " your device has not registered with network yet..." (I am sure this PIN is workable)
(When I typed the IMEI/PIN, I didn't turn on my device and connect to wireless network. But I don't think these two different results were related to this action. )

what's the problem? Does that mean the provider didn't release the PIN or worse?

any other websites/ways to check if the IMEI/PIN are valid?

Need urgent help! Thanks so much!

Where did you purchase the device? Directly from O2, Vodaphone and Orange, or second hand?

You may need to call the carrier and have them release the PIN, or have the previous user do so.

yes, second-hand phones.

My friend wants to re-sell them, I am not sure if buyer accept this kind of devices? so is not meant the PIN/IMEI are invalid?

Do you know any others way to check whether the PIN/IMEI are workable?

Check this link for future reference on purchasing second hand devices : Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

I would check with the carrier to verify, they would know if the devices have been flagged as lost/stolen.

If it's been flagged lost or stolen, you're out of luck. I would try to contact the seller and try to get a refund.

If my PIN was stolen and cloned, what can I do?
Someone at other forums said two devices with same PIN but different IMEI couldt connect to BIS at the same time.

So I think if my IMEI are fresh , is it still workable?

really confused!

could you pls mind explainning the steps to regist BIS account?

It may not be stolen. I bought a brand new Bold the day they came out, when I went to the RIM website a couple days later (to set a filter for gmail to eliminate "sent" email notifications) I got the same "an account already exists for this device". I had definitely not ever set up an account previously, and as I mentioned, the phone was brand new. I called RIM and it was fixed up within 10 minutes. Not to sound snarky, but why not just call the toll-free tech support number, that's what they're there for?
