"Attachment Server is Busy"
Please Login to Remove!
This issue started yesterday - where I cannot open any attachments on my personal (BIS-only) Sprint 8330 Curve. Each time I try to open an attachment I get the red X and "Attachment Server is Busy". Weird thing is I can download and save the attachments to my device.
It's not a Sprint or coverage issue since I have a work Sprint Curve connected to a BES and can open attachments just fine on that device. My husband has a (personal) Sprint 8130 and a (work) Sprint 8830 and can also open attachments without a problem.
I have resent service books more times than I can count.
Due to some data connectivity issues I've had lately as well, in addition to my thought that this is device related, I decided to do the following today:
- Backup device
- Use javaloader to remove the OS (ran the wipe command twice, just to be sure, got 507 error)
- Reloaded OS (minus voice activated dialing)
- Resent service books
- Restored pertinent data (address book, calendar, password keeper, etc)
- Installed 3rd party apps (BBWeather, Pandora, Google Maps, Sprint Nav, and Facebook)
Still getting the same error after all that, AND now I am not getting HTML email (Messages -> Options -> Email Settings -> Enable HTML Email = Yes).
I have also deleted and recreated my gmail account via my BIS account and it's STILL not working.
This is incredibly frustrating.....

Wirelessly posted (BB 8330)
if I can remember right I had that one time with old emails when I loaded a new OS. Have you deleted the emails on the BB and tried a new email.

I haven't tried that. I'm up for (almost) anything right now. Will give it a whirl and see what happens.

No luck. Deleted all email from the device, resent service books, sent myself an email with a small .jpg attachment (from my work account), and still received the same error.

I guess I'm glad to know it's not my device, but strange that it's a hit or miss type of thing.
If it's not cleared up in the morning, I'll be calling RIM (I have T-Support thru work) and will see what they say.
Are you also having problems with HTML email not showing as HTML?

I definately will.
And I wonder if losing the HTML email is a side effect of what I did to my device earlier today. The HTML email was fine before I removed/reinstalled the OS.

One other thing that I've done that isn't listed above is to un-install the attachment service and then re-install it. I did that prior to the complete device rebuild.
I've opened a case with RIM and let them know that the issue has been reported by other people on the various forums. They appear to be stumped and will be calling me back.
Oh, and HTML email seems to be working again. Weird.

Thanks for the followup. If I can get you any information from my BB with the problem that might be helpful, let me know.

Can you PM me your PIN? They started to tell me it was my device, but I cried foul and reminded them that it wasn't just me.
Is your profile up to date, too? You have a Verizon 8130?
UPDATE - I just received the following from RIM:
Quote:
After some more research this looks to be a known issue now. We are currently working on this issue and will let you know when it is resolved.
|
I'll let you know what I hear back from them.

Got it thanks. If they try to tell me again it's a device issue I'll pass it along. Otherwise I'll be sure to publish it on all the websites I can find...hehe J/K.
They tested both of my normal email addresses - gmail.com & charter.net and they are both having the issue. They then created an @sprint.blackberry.net account for me and sent a test message and it also failed.
No update since then.

Attachment Server Busy
My son and I are having the same issue today. We have a webcam that monitors our dogs during the day and some of the attachments we could view but most we could not. He has a Storm and I have a Curve with Verizon. I would be interested to know the status of the rest of you at this point in the day.:

It's working for me now. No update from RIM on cause/resolution...
I did not have to resend my service books, but for those still having problems it might not hurt to try doing that and then try the attachment again.
