Default Simple App, Frustrating error...

Please Login to Remove!

I have written a one liner application that simply opens up the blackberry browser when the application loads.

The application works perfectly on the simulator when debugging through the JDE. It also works great when I install "OTA" through the MDS simulator.

The problem occurs only on physical blackberry devices -- it happens on two separate models.

The application installs fine OTA and through the Web Loader, however when I go to launch it, I get this error on the screen:

Error Starting iQbb:
Symbol '.in' not found.

When I attach the debugger to my physical device, this is what I see:

Starting iQbb
VM:LINK iQbb
Symbol '.in' not found.
Linker error: 'VerifyError' for iQbb
Error starting iQbb: Symbol '.in' not found.

Here is my code:

Quote:
import net.rim.blackberry.api.browser.Browser;

public class iQbb
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
Browser.getDefaultSession().displayPage("http://mywebsite.com/default.aspx");
}
}
The api is not yet signed, so I do expect this application to fail in the end, but not this error. It's worth noting that I get the same error message when i remove the reference to the api and comment out the only line of code in main()

Default JDE Versions

Which version of the JDE are you using?

You have to use the 4.1 JDE for devices like the 7130.

Just a thought....

Default awesome!

Thanks for your help -- I figured my best bet would be to use the latest version of JDE, but I guess that logic is bad ;)

Applications that I write using 4.1 will be able to work on 4.2 devices correct?

Thank you very much!

Default I have the same error loading the Hello World sample application on my 8703e

Do you solve this problem by going back to the previous version of the JDE?

I see this same error after loading via OTA the 'Hello World' sample application from JDE 4.2.1 on my Blackberry 8703e. Unfortunately, JDE 4.2.1 has a simulator for the 8703e, so it would imply I have the right JDE for this build/deployment.

How did you ultimately solve this issue?

check OS version on your device: Options > About.
OS 4.2.1 was released for 8703e not long time ago. For example, Sprint suggests only OS 4.1 for 8703e on their site.
