Welcome to the forums.

It is like that by design. When the battery gets too low it shuts off the radio. You need to charge it back to at least (I believe) 15% before you can turn the radio on again.

why dont you just turn the BB off while you're out carving the white stuff to save on juice. . . it's not like you'll be on the phone or messaging as you snowboard

It is working as designed.

You don't want the battery drained completely all the time, it ruins the battery.

Also this is a function of the fact that the charger does not supply enough power to run the phone by itself.

Look on the bright side.... it's not an iPhone so you can always carry a spare battery and pop it in when you need it!

Rocknrollstar,

if you take a freshly charged battery up the mountain with you, it should not be dying on you. I know this because I took my Storm skiing with my in Lake Tahoe and used it extensively on the slopes (sending many MMS's from the lifts). My battery was never below the halfway mark after a day on the slopes. I placed it back on the charger every night before bed.

Either you have a bad battery or you are running multiple battery hog apps. Your solution is easy for this one. Do one of two things:

1. Turn off all applications and just use the phone for communication while skiing - which includes sending MMS files.

2. Buy an extra battery, charge it full and take it along with you.

The only thing I can think of that could be possibly killing your battery is listening to music files on the way down. If you are, bring an iPod and use that instead.

Aight?
