Default SMS Inbox Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi I hope some one can help me out as both the blackberry technical team at my network provider (O2 UK) and my mate who is a Blackberry freak cant work out solution to this problem.

I have just received a new 9700 Bold as replacement for my 8900 curve that has numerous problems. The phone is a great improvement on previous but i have one major issue.

When I open up the SMS folder i do not see only the inbox but a variety of sent and incoming messages. Also the whole history isnt there i.e. all incoming and sent sms, and the choice of which ones to show is completely random. If I press blackberry, view folder and then sms inbox or outbox all my SMS's are then displayed.

However i want to see all the incoming sms's in the inbox and hide the sent messages like all previous Blackberry's. I am missing SMS as incoming ones are not showing up in the inbox due to random selection.

The only solution that O2 have suggested is going into the view folders and looking at them that way. However this is a bit old school and cant believe that this isnt a glitch on my phone.

any help/ solution to the problem out there?

Thanks

SMS on a 9700 is now conversation mode type messages.
So you would need to click on one person's name and see all messages from that person.

I believe that going into the SMS Inbox, will however show each received message individually.

But the main view of SMS messages is conversational.
Which is why you may not see each message; because they are conmpacted under one person's name.

Thanks for swift response, is there any way of switching off this conversational setting. It is driving me mad and is completely unusable.

Unfortunately not.
It may happen with an update, but for now, you're stuck with it.

Not sure if this is the same as yo have, but I have just upgraded to the 9700 and now I have an SMS issue.

When Bob send me an SMS I get it ok and can respond all in a conversation style window. all ok.

However say Karl then sends me an SMS, it appears inthe same conversation and will not show it is from Karl is will show it is from Bob,

Worse still if I reply, Bob gets the sms!!!

Plus the only way I can find out who the sms is off, is to go into view folder, then view the inbox, although I can not open the sms or delete it or respond from there.

Called O2, they said they would look into it, that was over a week ago?

Any idea?

Thanks, oh and Hello from me

When you are texting Bob and then Karl texts you, you get a little box at the bottom, under where you input text, if you have the conversation with Bob open. It's not "in" the conversation, but it's like a preview. You can just scroll down and click on Karl's message and respond.
