He certainly was proud of his accomplishment, but oddly enough, we haven't heard much boasting since, have we?

What you're doing is unethical.

There's a very good chance that if you do the right thing and take a few minutes to notify Verizon, they most likely won't charge you anything. However, by trying to take advantage of them, you always run the risk of them catching on to the mistake on their own and charging you sometime down the road.

I'm a firm believer in Karma. When you do the right thing, you're usually rewarded (ie: they take the loss and you have a free phone). When you do the wrong thing, it usually bites you in the ass later (ie: they figure it out and slap you with the charges). However, karma isn't always so simple. Your rewards and punishments don't always directly coincide with the action taken. If you chose to take advantage of Verizon, they may never notice their mistake and you may never be charged. But, somewhere down the road, karma will still dish out your punishment in the form of someone else taking advantage of you or something similar.

It's all a matter of whether or not you're willing to take that risk. ;)

Well, like I said, it's tell tale that we haven't seen him post again since his boasting of his big "Win" over VZW.

When I originally responded to him, I noted that I don't live to far from him, and am a VZW corporate employee. Although I don't have the ability or knowledge to track down his information, I know plenty of people who could/would. It wasn't the smartest thing in the world to post this.

Ok so by your logic, you are not stealing.....

So what if your bank accidentally credited your checking account $1000 for a $10.00 deposit, leaving you with a surplus of $990? You must realize if you spent any of that $990 it's called stealing and you can bet your berry that the bank would prosecute you.

You don't see the similarity of these two scenarios? What if your buddy put $20 bucks in your pocket that you saw him take from someone else? Would you take the $20 and call HIM the thief?

You are receiving stolen goods, just as if you walked in and took it off the shelf.

I don't see the big deal. Verizon steals from its customers every day.

Verizon does like to nickel and dime. That's no secret. Regardless, two wrongs don't make it right.

Oh yes, of course. How dare a company charge for services it offers, right?

Maybe not guilty feeling- more like bragging like a lil kid who just snatched a cookie from the cookie jar.

you are so full of crap your breath stinks. There is a difference in charging for a service that you sign up for, and out right defrauding someone or a comapny.

Verizon has never stolen one penny from me.

Keep the Storm, you don't need to tell them a thing - it's not as though they can't afford to lose one device, and it's their error not yours.

Nice guys finish last, karma is a load of crap.
