Default Carrying Storm in front pocket...

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,
Do any of you carry your Storm in your pockets? If so, will the lint affect the operation of the touch screen, since it is one big button?
Also, (BB noob question) does anyone know of a company that makes something, besides using a magnet, that will allow the BB to go into sleep mode without having to use a sleeve/holster? Just thought I would ask. Thanks.

I carry my Storm in the front pocket, it's wrapped in a rubber/silicone slip on. No issues. If a company did make "something" other than a magnet to put it in sleep mode, how could you enable it? You can sew a magnet in your pocket.

I think you will find that over time, lint will work its way into the spaces between the screen and the frame, and between the buttons. The track ball on other models seems to collect a lot of gunk, but I suspect the Storm will have its own issues.

I think some type of a holster would be a good idea, even a sunglass bag or something... to keep the lint at bay.

If a BlackBerry goes to sleep but nobody is there to see it, is it really asleep?

Wirelessly posted

I guess it is asleep, but you don't know.

I'm guessing that the hardware and software are setup to recognise a magnet, so not sure if anything else could act as the trigger, but I donrt know for sure.

Sunman67,

I applied the Phantom Skinz coating on my Storm and I carry it in my front pocket all day with the screen lock on. I make sure to slide it into my pocket with the screen side facing inward.

My phone is doing fine.

If you use the ZAGG invisi shield your phone will become a lint magnet. IMO - don't apply the ZAGG if your BB is going to be inside any pocket.

When I carrried my 8820 in my front pocket, I used a slip case with the sleeper magnet. I have one on order for my Storm as well. There are times I would rather carrry my phone in my pocket than hanging on my belt.

i use the oem silicon and have a zagg full sheild on the phone. lint isn't too big of a deal, so long as you take some time once a week, pull the battery out and wipe down everything with a moist microfiber cloth. also use a can of compressed air wherever there are openings on the device.....

might i advise you all: if you put the phone in your front pockets, do so such that the display is facing your body. i once had a razr in my pocket and the display was facing away from my body. then i had leaned on a metal stair rail where it touched the phone, cracked the glass....

Seidio

seidioonline.com

I've also carried mine in the front packet with a Seidio holster, no problems yet.

I carry mine in my front pocket with nothing else in that pocket, I have a screen guard and the seidio hybrid case. Lint can be a factor but it's not to bad

I used to have the BB silicon cover on my Storm. I really liked the look and feel of having it on but I also carried it in my front pocket and it was just a horrible lint magnet! I now have a BB leather holster case with proximity magnet. I have it clipped on the inside of my pocket. I have to tell you that I really like it! I have barely had any dust issues at all!! The case does a really good job protecting it and keeping the dust away from it. I do on occasion blow the inside of the case out and keep it clean. Having it clipped on the inside of my front pocket also provides quick access for phone call retrievals as well. I remember getting the phone out of my front pocket with the silicone cover was a bit of a pain b/c it would not slide out very easily...

I got my geniune BB leather holster case, home charger, and car charger for about $16 shipped from eBay.
