I bought a Blackberry yesterday but wasn't told in the shop that the Push email interval is not adjustable. It seems that the interval is fixed to 10-15 minutes. What if someboady sends me an email that I need to read immediately? Is there a way to inititate a push from the device? I'm using a BB 8800 with BIS.
You get one account dedicated to your BB that will be formatted as @tmo.blackberry.net. Set that up and then have your other email automatically forward to that. That account is instant. Also, GMail and Yahoo are nearly instant, as well.
BIS checks the accounts every 15 minutes.
BIS doesnt find email
BIS checks back in 15 minutes
BIS finds email
BIS compresses and sends email to handheld
BIS checks back for mail in 3 minutes
BIS doesnt find mail
BIS checks back for mail in 3 minutes
BIS doesnt find mail
BIS checks back for mail in 3 minutes

BIS checks back for mail in 3 minutes

rinse and repeat.
this is not for gmail/yahoo/carrier.blackberry.net account
Yes it will, mine shows up in about 20 to 25 seconds. Keep in mind that when you do that, when you respond your T-MO address will show up not your @mydomain.com address. I think there is a way to change that, but I do not know that.
"yes, go into the BIS page, edit the settings on your carrier.blackberry.net email address and set the "send as" option"
On the BIS page I only have the options below, no "send as" option.
Email account name:
Reply to:
Your name:
Signature: Sent via BlackBerry® Webmail from T-Mobile
Auto BCC:
Auto forward:

Thanks for your help! It looks like I am going to have to talk to my ISP tomorrow when support is open. I have email forwarding but when I tell it to forward to it says it says error: The userid "myname" is already being used as a POP account.
I am sorry, Send as is the wrong term. its reply to. You have the correct option.
Log into the email you wish to forward, say @gmail.com.
forward that to your @carrier.blackberry.net
log into your BIS website
click "Edit" on your @carrier.blackberry.net email address
Set reply to as the @gmail.com email address
hit save
