Default RIM Charging Pod - Anyone have one?

Please Login to Remove!

Just saw this in an online accesory store. Seems to be out of stock just about everywhere. The sites say it is BB OEM, but I couldn't find in on the BB website, although I didn't look hard.

I plan to get one when in stock since I'm always putting stress on the USB port while charging my Curve. Bumping the cord or picking the phone up with it attached to check messages. Seems like that will eventually cause problems with the USB connector.

hey monkeypaw,
Check out your local tmobile store, they may have it. I was in one of the tmobile stores here this morning and they had a bunch. I think it was either 24.95 or 29.99.

Ok thanks. I never think of them as having good prices, but that's about what they go for online. Basically about $25 plus $5 shipping. So maybe a few dollars extra for tax.

That one does not do it for you?

It is compatible with the 83XX. I ordered onw when I ordered the longer life battery.

I've looked at all those that go through the USB port because they were so much cheaper than the BB charger that uses the contacts. But I just want to drop it into something and not have to do the cable. I don't have to backup all that often.

This pod is just what I was looking for. Like they read my mind.

From what I understand T-Mobile has only the 8100 stands in the stores right now and they are $29.99

Seidio is suppose to come out with one that will fit with their case also.

How about one that charges an extra battery at the same time?

3 Tmobile stores near me didn't have either one of them. Kinda small stores so I guess not surprising.

Blackberry does make one of those also and you can get them on Ebay for about $65.

I ordered the 8300 model from eshoplimited.com (chinesecatt) yesterday and just got a notice that it shipped today. I'll report after after it arrives.

Well the advantages would be the ability to synch on the cradle. I am pretty sure you can't synch with a pod/charger that only uses the points. Am I wrong?

Right, that's the downside. But folks on BES and those using bluetooth to synchronize have less reason to plug in the USB. Or folks like me who don't have to do backups all that often.

Ehh, I was just trying to make myself feel better for spending the cash on it the other day.

Thanks.

I am actually waiting for this one since I have the case and don't want to disassemble/assemble when charging.

I bought from that Ebay seller just yesterday. Waiting for it now so I'll post back if things go well or not.

I found the charging pod for my 83xx at bberry. Loving it! Feels solid, looks classy, doesn't take up a lot of space and my curve balances perfectly in it. Highly recommended.
