Question UMA connecton

Please Login to Remove!

Both me and my wife have the BlackBerry Curve 8520 on Orange UK on Pay As You Go.

My Orange Branded phone can connect to my router and use UMA, but my wifes generic unbranded phone can not. It will connect to the WiFi OK.

Any ideas?

Both phones are using the 4.6.1.314 firmware.

Because the unbranded phone, doesn't have UMA.
Just like the 9700 from vodafone doesn't have UMA, unbranded BB's don't either.
You need to get a branded from the carrier that has UMA BB, to actually use UMA.

nope.
Its not firmware related.
You cant get a non-UMA phone to be a UMA phone.

I've just "enabled" an unbranded 8900 by adding a UMA profile in the engineering settings screens - have a dig around you'll find the info required - it really is quite simple (provided the phone itself supports UMA obvioulsy)

search for "Orange UMA & Carphone warehouse" - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums
